The People

Tim Quinlan
Viticulturist

Tim has been Grace Farm’s viticulturist since 2006. He worked as a botanist before moving to Margaret River and embarking on a career in the wine industry in 1994. He was mentored by renowned viticulturist John Brocksopp at Leeuwin Estate, where he learned to reference the grape-growing process with the end result in the bottle. This vine-to-wine principle and a close attention to detail underpin his work for Grace Farm.

Jonathan Mettam
Winemaker

Jono has been Grace Farm’s winemaker since the first vintage in 2010. He studied oenology at the University of Adelaide and honed his skills in the Mosel Valley in Germany, the Willamette Valley in the USA and WA’s Swan Valley. In 2003 he moved to the Margaret River region, working first for Wise Wines and then for 3 Oceans. He is relishing working with seasoned viticulturist Tim Quinlan and the pristine fruit from Grace Farm’s exceptional Wilyabrup site.

John & Elizabeth Mair
Owners

John Mair studied at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, UK before arriving in Australia in 1961 under the so-called “Ten Pound Pom” immigration scheme. He worked as a jackaroo on properties in NSW and WA before settling in Perth and establishing a property business, now called the Mair Group. He met Elizabeth Lefroy in 1969 and they married in 1971, raising five children in Perth. The family spent their holidays in the South West, where a love of the region led to them purchasing the property that would become Grace Farm in 2003. As the first Grace Farm vintage came onto the market, Elizabeth took charge of the administrative side, handling orders, delivery and accounts. John has an active role in management and sales and can often be met at a tasting. They both work in the orchard and vegetable patch and enjoy maintaining the property’s bushland and natural assets with the help of their children.
