Tasting Notes

The wine exhibits ripe blackcurrant fruit with earthy graphite mineral overtones, cradled by exceptionally fine tannins and integrated French oak. A distinct mineral complexity is derived from the rocky granitic soils of the Leeuwin Ridge.

Season

2024 vintage marked a fast-paced season with grapes ripening rapidly in hot, dry conditions. Frequent irrigation was required to keep the canopies fresh and enable the grapes to ripen to maturity without dehydration.

Vinification

The Chardonnay grapes were hand harvested in the cool of morning on January 31, 2024 and then chilled overnight. The whole bunches were then pressed the following morning directly into a combination of 30% new and 70% second fill French oak barriques. The juice underwent an indigenous yeast fermentation to dryness which took a period of 8 days. The wine was matured in barrel for a
further 10 months, racked out of barrel on November 19, stabilized, filtered and then bottled on 4 December 2024.
