The cellar door is a convivial space, offering a personalised wine tasting experience. Located just inside the entrance to the property on Cowaramup Bay Rd, it overlooks a cabernet and grenache vineyard. Visitors can enjoy a tasting at the counter with expert cellar door staff and also linger on for a drink on the deck. The low impact, prefabricated structure is in keeping with the desire to tread lightly on the land. It was transported from Perth, with minimal siteworks.
The cellar door introduces visitors to Grace Farm's incredible variety of forest vegetation: karri, marri, jarrah, yarri (blackbutt), banksia, peppermints and melaleuca. Features such as the yarri counter and the marri boards behind the bar were made by local cabinet maker Jake Jakovich using timber from declining or fallen mature trees on the property. The garden was designed and planted with local species by Harriot D’Emden, a Perth landscape architect and family member. The cellar door generates its own power. Marc, from Magic Electrical Services in Bunbury, helped us connect via an off-grid system, in keeping with our goal of sustainability.
According to the season, fruit and vegetables from the farm’s organic orchard and kitchen garden may be available at the counter.
