John & Elizabeth Mair
John & Elizabeth Mair are the owners of Grace Farm. John studied at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, UK before arriving in Australia in 1961 under the so-called “Ten Pound Pom” immigration scheme. He worked as a jackaroo on properties in NSW and WA before settling in Perth and establishing a property business.
As the first Grace Farm vintage came onto the market, Elizabeth took charge of the administrative side, handling orders, delivery and accounts. John has an active role in management and sales and can often be met at a tasting. They both work in the orchard and vegetable patch and enjoy maintaining the property’s bushland and natural assets with the help of their children.

He studied oenology at the University of Adelaide and honed his skills in the Mosel Valley in Germany, the Willamette Valley in the USA and WA’s Swan Valley. In 2003 he moved to the Margaret River region, working first for Wise Wines and then for 3 Oceans. He is relishing working with seasoned viticulturist Tim Quinlan and the pristine fruit from Grace Farm’s exceptional Wilyabrup site.
Nicola Dobson
Born in Marlborough, New Zealand, Nicola has always been surrounded by wine. After many years in the coffee industry, she returned to her first love, working at Woodlands Wines before joining Grace Farm. Nicola is passionate about creating a warm, memorable experience for every visitor and sharing the unique story of Grace Farm.
Frank D'Emden
Frank’s love of farming stems from his formative years working on his family’s farms on the southeast coast of WA. Living on the fringes of the Fitzgerald River Biosphere inspired his interest in biodiversity and natural ecosystems, leading to BSc. and MSc. degrees in Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Agricultural Economics. Frank’s career has encompassed Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Research, where he currently leads studies and provides advisory services into soil carbon sequestration, agri ecosystem regeneration and Natural Capital Accounting. Viticulture is Frank’s ‘third career’ which he is embarking on through first-hand experience. Frank is married to John and Liz’s daughter Harriot, a seasoned Landscape Architect who designed the cellar door and surrounds.
