2019 Museum Cabernet Blend

The 2019 cabernet blend has the elegant style of a cooler vintage which allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and picking to be precise. The wine has captured the beautiful cassis of the cabernet, the velvety nature of malbec, the structure of petit verdot and wonderful violet aromas from cabernet franc. Soft natural acidity and dusty tannins mesh with the lively fruit on the palate, making the wine approachable now but with the ability to cellar for many years. Delicious and refined.

Vintage 2019 was three weeks later than average, with cool weather from budburst to flowering which continued over the ripening season. Harvest rain, high humidity and intense native bird pressure led to intensive vine canopy management throughout the region.

The cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and cabernet franc blocks were select harvested on 17 April and blended at the crusher to a red fermenter. The malbec had fermented separately 3 weeks earlier.
