NEW RELEASE

The quality of the estate Semillon block is on full display here, with only free run juice utilised to ensure the precision and delicacy of this wine. Bright aromas of preserved lemon, fresh spring herbs and nettle flow onto a lively palate with great fruit weight and saline acidity that drives the wine to a long and crisp finish. Barrel fermentation supports the fruit and enhances texture and palate weight. This wine is ready to drink now, but it will also reward cellaring for up to 15 years. The wine will develop more roundness and honey toasty characters as it ages.

Season

The 2024 vintage marked a fast-paced season with grapes ripening rapidly in hot, dry conditions. Frequent irrigation was required to keep the canopies fresh and enable the vines to ripen the grapes to maturity without dehydration. Harvest timing in these conditions was critical to ensure physiological ripeness was achieved without a loss of natural acidity or fruit expression. All varieties reached full maturity earlier than we had ever experienced. However, good communication between the vineyard and the winery has resulted in wines that show beautiful flavours and aromas.
Vinification

The semillon was harvested by hand in the early morning of 29 January 2024 then immediately destemmed, crushed and pressed.

The free-run juice and pressing juice were transferred into separate stainless-steel tanks to allow for separate fermentation of these juices.

The free-run portion was clarified via flotation and the following day transferred into seasoned French oak barriques and puncheons for fermentation.

The barrel volumes were then blended prior to filtering and bottling in July 2024.
